Claim age co optimization estate gain
After-tax estate gained by the winning joint claim-age combination over the best result at the current claim ages, in nominal dollars of the plan's last year: 0 when no claim change won, more than $1,000 when one did.

Claim-age co-optimization estate gain Composition record, justified by derivation
Purpose: How much more projected after-tax estate the winning claim-age change leaves than the best result at the current claim ages.
Statement: projection/optimizePlan.ts#optimizePlanCoOptimizingClaimAge publishes ClaimAgeCoOptimization.claimChangeEstateGain = compareScalars(currentClaimExactEstate, jointExactEstate).delta (settled decision R17: one value, which the Optimize page's claim card and the downloadable report both read), and estateYear, the plan's last projection year, whose nominal dollars all three estate figures are in. A claim candidate is kept only when its estate exceeds the current-claim estate by more than DEFAULT_CLAIM_SWITCH_MARGIN_DOLLARS, which is 1000 dollars, so the gain is 0 when no claim change won (the two estates are then one number) and more than 1000 dollars when one did; it is never negative. Estates of $1,000,000 at the current claim ages and $1,118,000 jointly give $118,000. Units: nominal USD of estateYear. Rounding: none.
Formula:
gain = J − C, where J = C unless a claim candidate's estate exceeds C + 1000-
J: After-tax estate of the best claim and schedule pair (jointExactEstate) (unit: nominal USD of estateYear) (domain: finite) -
C: After-tax estate of the optimum at the current claim ages (currentClaimExactEstate) (unit: nominal USD of estateYear) (domain: finite)
Timing: once per co-optimized run
Rounding: none; the page and the report print whole dollars
Limits:
- The gain is in nominal dollars of the plan's last year, like both estates beside it: for a plan ending in 2091 at 2.5 percent inflation from 2026, $193,083.87 is $38,787.76 in 2026 dollars. The card and the report row name the year.
- The gain compares optima on after-tax estate whatever objective ranked the conversion schedules; the card says after-tax estate.
